Examples of inherited traits of animals include the coloring of their fur, their eye or ear shape, and the shape of their feet and beaks. Examples of inherited traits in plants include having broad leaves to soak up the Sun, having shallow wide roots to quickly absorb water, or having spines to discourage animals from eating them.LearnedBehaviors refer to actions of an animal. Some behaviors are learned while others are instinctive. A learned behavior is something an animal must learn how to do or learns from experience. Examples of learned behaviors include reading, performing tricks, dancing, and riding a bike. Remember- Adaptations are certain body parts or behaviors that allow an organism to survive and thrive in their environment. CInstinctive behaviorsare those an animal is born with and does not have to learn. Hibernation (a deep sleeplike state when an animal’s body slows down) and migration (the journey an animal makes such as when it flies south for the winter and flies back north in the spring) are types of instinctive behaviors.
