Learn cloud types! Identify cirrus, stratus, cumulus, and more. Fun science worksheet for kids.

For each cloud identify it's altitude prefix, composition, tell me if it can produce precipitation, and finally tell me at what altitude range this cloud forms. Give each blank in the table a click. Then select from the many choices that pop up the correct entry. There will be many duplicated entries, but it does not matter which one you put in a blank so long as it is the correct option. As you use a choice it will be grayed out. If you need to change an answer just click the box you wish to change and choose a new answer from the list. Cloud Name Altitude Prefix Altitude Range Cloud Composition Can this cloud produce precipitation? Cirrus Cirro 6000 M - Tropopause Ice Crystals No Stratus Strato 500 M - 4000 M Water Droplets No Cumulus Strato 500 M - 4000 M Water Droplets No Nimbostratus Strato 500 M - 4000 M Water Droplets Yes Fog Strato 0 M - 500 M Water Droplets No Stratocumulus Strato 500 M - 4000 M Water Droplets No Cirrostratus Cirro 6000 M - Tropopause Ice Crystals No Altostratus Alto 4000 M - 6000 M Water Droplets and Ice Crystals No Cumulonimbus Strato 500 M - Tropopause Water Droplets and Ice Crystals Yes Altocumulus Alto 4000 M - 6000 M Water Droplets and Ice Crystals No Cirrocumulus Cirro 6000 M - Tropopause Ice Crystals No Cloud Chart Identification Identify each cloud in the chart by clicking on the blinking circle and typing in its name. (spelling counts) Cirrocumulus Cumulonimbus Cirrostratus Cirrus Fog Nimbostratus Cumulus Stratus Stratocumulus Altocumulus Altostratus Click on each cloud name and then choose the correct category to put it in. Alto Clouds Altostratus Altocumulus Strato Clouds Stratus Stratocumulus Cumulus Fog Cirro Clouds Cirrus Cirrostratus Cirrocumulus Clouds that produce precipitation and are also strato clouds Cumulonimbus Nimbostratus Pick the correct word to fill in each blank from the list that pops up when you click the blank. (note for duplicated words it does not matter which one goes where) Cumulonimbus clouds are special clouds. They begin at low altitudes in the strato zone and then vertically develop through the alto zone and into the cirro zone. This means that cumulonimbus clouds are made of different phases of water from water drops at the bottom to ice crystals at the top and mixtures of both between. Which picture is the cumulus cloud? Which picture is the stratus cloud? Which picture is the cirrus cloud? Which picture is the cumulonimbus cloud? Which picture is the nimbostratus cloud? Which cloud is fog? Which picture is the altostratus cloud? Which picture is the altocumulus cloud? Which picture is the cirrocumulus cloud? Which picture is the cirrostratus cloud? Which picture is the stratocumulus cloud?
