Monday Resolving Conflicts Using "I" Statements
When a person feels that they are being blamed, whether rightly or wrongly, it’s common that they respond defensively and that can cause arguments and conflicts. “I” statements are a simple way of speaking that avoids this trap by reducing feelings of blame. A good “I” statement takes responsibility for one’s own feelings, while describing a problem. Create "I" statements based on the scenarios below using the following format:I felt (or feel)_when you_because_.Example: Someone fed your cat too much food.I felt angry when you fed my cat too much because I don't want him to get fat. 7. Someone was making you laugh when you were drinking your milk.
