Hello welcome to Project Management for Campaigns - Session 3 In the last session, we explored the processes of campaign planning, project management skills, the first stage of campaign planning - creating a campaign vision! In this session we will explore:* how to develop your campaign strategy by mapping stakeholders* how to develop your communications planThis worksheet it should only take around 10 minutes to complete! There are voice instructions as well as text instructions. Stakeholder Mapping A stakeholder is someone with a ‘stake’ or interest in your project, whether positive, negative or neutral. We map groups of stakeholders according to their interest in the topic and the influence they have to affect the change you want to see.We want to see groups, like residents, young people or marginalised groups increase their influence by finding common interests and working togetherCampaigns can target and empower different groups to come together and build their influence! Communication Planning After mapping your stakeholders, you can make a communications plan based on the different groups’ motivations, interests and role in your campaign. You can split your stakeholders into primary and secondary target audiences, depending on how important they will be for your campaign. Then you can also put them in three types of group: Supporters, Influencers, Communicators Communications Channels and Tools You will need to provide different materials and use different channels for the different groups.Match up the different communications channels, tools and materials to the example groups.Note: Many of these communications channels are suited to all key audience and work even better when used in combination, for example face-to-face is one of the most effective communications channels used to build relationships, even better when combined with a leaflet you can leave behind with your key points on. Supporters - Core Group Meetings Regular Email Social Media Supporters - Parks Users Poster Face-to-face Leaflet Influencers - Local Councillor Letter Petition Communicator - Local Media Press Release Interview Summary Key Task - Feedback In this session we explored 2 key project management tools for campaigns:* Stakeholder Mapping* Communications Planning, including target audiences and toolsGo back to Campaign Unit in the Youth Network and leave a comment on the post identifying one stakeholder for a 'plastic recycling campaign' .See you there for more discussion!
