Slope from a Graph
Find slope on a graph! Master positive, negative, zero, and undefined slopes with rise over run.
Choose the correct word to fill in the blanks in the paragraph below. Slope is a number that is used to describe the rate at which a line created by a set of points changes. Lines with a positive slope are moving upwards when traced from left to right. Lines with a negative slope are moving downwards when traced from left to right. Slope can be found on a graph by looking at the change in y and the change in x of two points on the line. This is normally described as rise over run. A line that is horizontal or sideways has a slope of zero, but a line that is vertical or straight up and down has an undefined slope. Sort the following images based on if they have a negative slope for a positive slope. Negative Slope -2 -5 -3 Positive Slope 6 4 7 Find the slope of each line below. Remember to first check if the slope is negative or positive, then calculate rise over run. 1 -5 1 4 -3 Draw aline that has a slope of 3 inblue and a line that has a slope of 4 in redonthe same coordinate plane.
