The movie’s title The Bucket List comes from the idiom, "kick the bucket," which means to die.In the movie, Edward has a lot of money, but he’s also rude and not very kind. He has been married four times, and he is now single and alone again. Carter is quite the opposite. He is quiet and loves his wife, Virginia, very much. They have been married for 45 years and have three children - a lawyer, an engineer, and a violinist. Carter loves history and really wanted to teach it in a college, but instead, he fixed cars his whole life.While they are in the hospital, Carter starts writing a bucket list - a list of things he wants to do before he dies. However, he quickly gives up when he finds out that he has cancer and that he will die in less than a year. Edward sees this and persuades Carter to try to do everything on his list anyway. He even adds things - like skydiving - and says that he will pay for everything.Although Carter's wife disagrees with the idea, the two men start their trip around the world to do everything on the list. For three months, they have many fun and crazy adventures together. There are also touching moments as they get to know each other better. In Hong Kong, however, they get into a fight, and Carter returns home to his family. Soon afterward, Carter's cancer gets worse, but he meets Edward one last time before he dies, and they have an important conversation.It's a great movie that shows how our decisions affect our lives and how a little fun can make life feel exciting again.
