In this unit, we are focusing on argumentative. Argumentative is based on reason and logic. It requires research to create a well thought out argument while persuasive only requires us to have a passionate opinion about a topic. Think of argumentative as a combination of informational and persuasive writing. It includes facts about a topic but also takes a position on the topic. Sort the statements into the correct category. Persuasive Purpose is to show the reader your side of the argument is valid Does not require research Purpose is to get the reader to agree with you Presents only one side of the argument - their side Driven by emotions Argumentative Requires research Presents evidence for reasoning with facts and research Driven by facts Presents both sides, but is is clear which side they agree with
