Quantitative Qualitative Mixed methods QUALITATIVE methods usually result in papers with extensive descriptions and narrative (NOT charts, graphs and data tables).One advantage of using PRIMARY data is that you have control over all aspects of the design, time frame of project, etc. and you can make sure your data fits your purpose perfectly.If your purpose is to CREATE you must know enough about your topic to identify variables to measure.If you say your approach is to EXPLAIN but you really want to invent an intervention and test its effectiveness, your project is misaligned.If you looked for patterns among census statistics on life expectancy and geographical location, this would be a(n) NON-EXPERIMENTAL design using SECONDARY DATA. A(n) EXPLORE approach is best for a topic about which very little is known and it’s too soon to look for relationships between variables.
