Dimensional Analysis Part 2
Boost your science and math skills with dimensional analysis practice! Solve unit conversion, chemistry, and real-world problems.
Dimensional Analysis Practice This will be a series of mixed problems, some will have the tables where you select values from a drop-down menu, others will have to be one on paper. There will be some multi-step problems as well. The multi-step problems in particular are more difficult than the first Chemistry application we will have for dimensional analysis, but it is something we will need down the line and I want to start practice early. If you struggle with a few problems on this worksheet that is OK, I am deliberately putting some tricky ones in. If you have a hard time with most of the problems please be sure to ask for help though.First Question: If you're going to make a trip to the Tucson zoo, which is 96 miles away, and your car gets 18 miles per gallon, how many gallons of gas will you need to make the trip? 96 miles 1 gallon 18 miles It will take 5.33gallons of gas to reach the Tucson zoo. (Round to two decimal places) If 1 inch = 2.54 cm, how many cms is 60 inches?60 inches is equal to 152.4 cms Set up this one on paper yourself! The North Pole Experience in Flagstaff is 184 miles away, how many gallons of gas will it take to get there if your car gets 40 miles per gallon? It will take 4.6 gallons of gas to reach the North Pole Experience. It even works with Gibberish! On planet Znvuwoe, Bob has 4.2 flaggulons. If 8.4 flaggulons = 5.3 Naptudons, how many Naptudons would Bob have? 4.2 flaggulons 5.3 Naptudons (not used space) 8.4 flaggulons Bob has the equivalent of 2.65Naptudons (round to two decimal places) Two Step Mission Beach is 366 miles away. If your car gets 25 miles per gallon, and gas costs $3.50 per gallon, how much would it cost to drive to Mission Beach? 366 miles 1 gallon $3.50 25 miles 1 gallon It would cost $51.24 to drive to Mission Beach. Yellowstone National Park is 1,017 miles away. If your car gets 37 miles per gallon and gas costs $3.25, how much would it cost to drive to Yellowstone? It would cost $89.33 to drive to Yellowstone (round to two decimal places!) Proper Chemistry Question! If you have 75.3 grams of methane, and methane has a mass of 16.05 grams per mol, how many mols of methane do you have? 75.3 grams of methane 1 mol of methane 16.05 grams of methane 75.03 grams of methane is 4.67 mols of methane (round to two spaces) Salt Lake City is 698 miles away. If your car gets 38 miles per gallon, and each gallon of gasoline burned releases 20 pounds of carbon dioxide, how much carbon dioxide is released from this journey? Driving to Salt Lake City in this car would release 367.37 pounds of carbon dioxide (round to two decimal places as always) The chart on this question won't be graded, just there to help you line things up and show your work. This is a tricky one.You plan on having people over to celebrate COVID-19 magically disappearing overnight. Each person needs 3 pieces of pizza. Each pizza has 8 slices. And each pizza costs 6$. If you have $30, how many people can you feed? There is enough food for 13 people (round down to the nearest whole number)
