Microscope Check Biology Period 4
Parts of the Microscope Label the parts of the microscope. Please type each answer in all lowercase letters!! eye piece (ocular lens) nosepiece stage clips arm diaphragm coarse adjustment knob stage base light source fine adjustment knob objective lenses Functions of the Parts of the Microscope EYEPIECE this part is where you look through. NOSEPIECE This part holds the objective lenses and is able to rotate to change magnification. OBJECTIVE LENSES These are found on the nosepiece and range from low to high power. COARSE ADJUSTMENT KNOB This part moves the stage up and down a lot. Only use under LOW power. FINE ADJUSTMENT KNOB This part moves the stage slightly to help you sharpen or “fine” tune your view of the specimen. POWER Refers to the degree of magnification for a lens DIAPHRAGM allows you to adjust the amount of light coming through your slide. FIELD OF VIEW the area you can see when using a microscope MAGNIFICATION to make larger If my ocular lens is 10x and my objective lense is 10x, what is the total magnification? 10x 30x 100x 40x If the ocular lens in the eyepiece has a magnification of 10x and my total magnification is 400x, the what is the magnification of my objective lens I am using? 10x 40x 350x 4x What is the Field of View of the microscope in the diagram provided? Remember to LABEL the UNIT!! Estimate the length of ONE cell in the diagram provided. Remember to LABEL the UNIT!! Use the diagram below, what is the length of the cell pictured in MICROMETERS. Remember 1 mm = 1,000 micrometers
