Greenhouse - Evolution Day 3
Fill In the Blanks Taxonomy is the study of classifying organisms. Aristotle was the first person to make a classification system which used only plants and animals. Linnaeus made the current seven part system which uses kingdom through species. Kingdom is the biggest group and species is the smallest group. Binomial nomenclature is the two part naming system that uses the genus and species to name all organisms. Cladograms and phylogenic trees show us evolutionary relationships. Dichotomous keys use phenotypes or characteristics to classify organisms. Key terminology Match the terms Bi Two Nomial Naming Species Smallest group Kingdom Biggest group Variation Differences Homo Same Anatomy Parts of the body Amino Acids Monomer to Proteins In a phylogenic tree the oldest species is found.
