Fill in the blanks below with the appropriate missing words! Work is done on a object only if the force and the distance are parallel to each other, and this force causes a motion to take place. If the force and distance traveled are perpendicular to each other the force has not contributed to the motion of this object. There can be forces acting at angles that will do work, but only the component that is parallel to the distance traveled does work. Work is measured in Joules, just like energy. This means that it takes energy to do work. If energy is lost, work was done in a direction opposite the motion of the object. If energy is gained, work was done in a direction along with the motion of the object. Label the diagram! Label the points on the diagram with the name of the force and whether the work is +, -, or 0. *THE FORCE DOT IS ON THE TIP OF THE ARROW, THE WORK DOT IS CLOSEST TO THE BOX.*Word Bank:WeightPull ForceForce of frictionNormal ForceW=0-W+W Normal Force Pull Force Weight +W W=0 W=0 -W Force of friction Matching: Match the words on the right to the words on the left.
