Master the coordinate plane! Review axes, quadrants, origin, and graphing ordered pairs.

Click in each blank to answer the question. The coordinate plane is made up of two number lines that intersect to create four quadrants. These quadrants are not labeled with numbers, but rather Roman Numerals. The Roman Numeral for the first quadrant is I, the second quadrant is II, the third quadrant is III, and then fourth quadrant is IV. The horizontal number line is also called the x-axis and the vertical number line is known as the y-axis. The place where the two axes intersect is called the origin and labeled as the point (0, 0). Click in each "tag" to type the correct label for each area of the graph. The label choices are: Origin, Quadrant I, Quadrant II, Quadrant III, Quadrant IV, x-axis, and y-axis. Origin Quadrant I Quadrant II Quadrant III Quadrant IV y-axis x-axis What is the correct format of an ordered pair? x, y (x, y) (y, x) y, x Given an ordered pair, what are the steps to graph the point on a coordinate plane? first go up or down, and then go left or right first go left or right, and then go up or down Ordered Pair Location Sort the ordered pair into their correct locations. Quadrant I (2,4) (15,1) (5,3) Quadrant II (-4,2) (-10,8) (-1,9) Quadrant III (-3,-7) (-6,-1) (-4,-9) Quadrant VI (8,-4) (5,-5) (7,-10) x-axis (9,0) (-10,0) y-axis (0,5) (0,-8) Match the ordered pairs that are located in the same quadrant or on the same axis. (3, 4) (10, 1) (-5, -7) (-1, -9) (-8, 4) (-3, 2) (1, -7) (2, -6) (0, 8) (0, -5) (7, 0) (-3, 0) Which of the following describes Point B? (3, 4) (-3, -4) (4, 3) (-4, -3) Which of the following describes Point C? (-2, 1) (-2, -1) (-1, -2) (1, -2) Which of the following describes Point H? (-3, 3) (3, -3) (3, 3) (-3, -3) Which of the following describes Point G? (0, 4) (4, 0) (-4, 0) (0, -4) Use the coordinate plane to match the points A, B, C, and D to the ordered pairs. Point A (1, 1) Point B (-3, -1) Point C (0, 4) Point D (2, -3) Plot the following: Plot the following points on the given coordinate grid. (4, -3) (-2, -1) (0, -4) (-3, 0) (-1, 3) (3, 3)
