Rational Numbers Review
Master rational numbers! Convert fractions, decimals, and percents. Review operations with fractions and integers.
This unit we focused on rational numbers and converting them. We learned about all types of fractions. A(n) improper fraction has a numerator greater than it's denominator and a mixed number contains a fraction and a whole number. We know that fractions with different denominators they are called unlike fractions and when we divide fractions we keep, change, flip.We also worked on converting rational numbers between fractions, decimals and percents. 1.875 is an example of a terminating decimal. When going from a DECIMAL to PERCENT we move the decimal two places to the right and when going from a PERCENT to a DECIMAL we move the decimal two places to the left. Match the question to the correct answer. How do you go from a fraction to a decimal? divide numerator by denominator How do you go from a fraction to a percent? You need to become a decimal first, then move the decimal 2 places to the right How do you go from a decimal to a percent? Move the decimal 2 places to the right. How do you go from a percent to a decimal? Move the decimal 2 places to the left. How do you go from a decimal to a fraction? Decimal becomes numerator, place value is denominator What is the first step in adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators? rewrite the problems vertically find common denominator add or subtract numerators simplify What is the difference between multiplying and dividing fractions? simplifying rewriting keep change flip making improper What is the first step to multiplying and dividing mixed numbers? rewrite make improper keep change flip cross simplify When adding integers and the signs are the same, I add the numbers and keep the sign. When the signs are different, I subtract the numbers and keep the sign of the larger number. When I see a subtraction sign, I keep, change, change. And follow my addition rules. When I am multiplying and dividing fractions I should be drawing a triangle. Convert the decimals to fractions.
