Place each country in the correct alliance they were in during World War I. Central Powers Bulgaria Germany Austria-Hungary Ottoman Empire Allied Powers United States France Belgium Russia Britain World War I fighting ended in 1918 after Germany surrendered. Four years of trench warfare left millions dead. Britain, the United States, and France led the conversations that created the Treaty of Versailles. Each country had different goals when creating the Treaty of Versailles. France was harsh: wanted Germany to pay, shrink Germany's army, and blame Germany for the war. Britain wanted Germany's navy to be weak and take over Germany's oversea colonies. The United States want to create the League of Nations to maintain world peace.
