They both believe that the land was promised to them, and they both have a historical connection to the land. While the Palestinian Arabs believe that they moved onto the land after the Jews left the land, the Jews believe that they were exiled from the land, and have never stopped trying to return.After World War II, there was much guilt about the treatment of the Jews during the Holocaust. When the war ended, the Jews were essentially homeless, and did not have a safe place to return to.
