Earth's plates move because of invisible forces that pull the continents and oceans to the core of the planet. Earth's plates move due to radiation waves in the core which cause the land to vibrate. Divergent are place where plates spread apart Convergent are place where plates come together causing mountain ranges. Subduction are places where one plate sinks under another Oceanic Crust Part of the Earth's crust that the ocean sits on Continential Crust Part of the Earth's crust that the continent sits on Transform are places where plates slide sideways past each other.
