About 2,000 years ago people invented paper, but there were no pens. People began to write with feathers in the 7th century. Only in 1945, they started using pens as we know them today. In 1874 people invented typewriters. It was easier and faster to use typewriters than to write with pens. J.K. Rowling wrote some of her books on a typewriter because she didn’t have a computer.
