Everybody knows that Dolphins have a REPUTATION for being friendly. They enjoy being with friends and spend a lot of time “playing” - ESPECIALLY with other dolphins. Dolphins are also very SENSITIVE to other animals and in times of trouble, they can SUPPORT and help each other. ACCORDING TO scientists, dolphins RECOGNIZE each other by the sound of each dolphin’s whistle (= שריקה). When they hear it they are SUPPOSED TO come and meet their dolphin friends. HOWEVER, scientists couldn’t tell how long dolphins can remember these whistles. They did not feel CONFIDENT about whether dolphins remember the whistle of an old friend or not. Bruck is a scientist who studies animal BEHAVIOR at the University of Chicago. He recorded the whistles of SEVERAL dolphins and played them to other dolphins they once knew. That way he planned to ENCOURAGE the dolphins to swim to the source of the sound. To his surprise, when the dolphins heard the familiar whistle, they swam happily towards the voice. When the dolphins REALIZED / DISCOVERED that their dolphin friend was not there, there was a lot of DISAPPOINTMENT and sadness.Scientists also found that dolphins have a "highly developed spoken language" much like that of humans. It is a COMBINATION of pulses, clicks, and whistles that allow them to communicate. Their language has all the features of human spoken language which proves how intelligent they are. Undoubtedly, dolphins are the coolest creatures in the ocean—and maybe even on the entire planet! Suzy and Leah - Answer the questions.
