MARIE CURIEMarie Curie was born in Poland, but she lived and worked in France. At school she loved science, especially physics and chemistry. What did she do? With her husband Pierre she discovered two chemical elements – polonium and radium. They got the Nobel Prize for this discovery, and Marie was the first woman who ever got that prize. Later, she got one more, so she was also the first person who got two Nobel prizes. How did she die? She died of leukaemia, probably as a result of dangerous radioactive experiments. At the beginning everything was fine. Then her plane disappeared. The control tower got a strange message. They looked for the plane and the two pilots, but they never found them.
