Taste The betrayal left a bitter taste in his mouth. Smell They detected wood-smoke; someone must be living nearby. Sound The children listened out for Santa's sleigh-bells on Christmas eve. Sight It was a lot to take in: the decorations; the ribbons; the happy, smiling faces; but most of all, my Grandma had made it. Personification Giving a non-human thing, human qualities: for instance, feelings. Pathetic fallacy Using the weather to mimic the mood of the writing.
