James aged 15Scuba diving is sensational! Having watched my dad scuba dive numerous times, I was very keen to do it myself. Finally, my tenth birthday arrived and he took me on a taster course in Mexico. It was far better than I had imagined. Seeing a huge turtle pass by just one metre in front of me was amazing. I also saw a manta ray that was almost as big as me! Since then I have done my junior open water diving course and I’ve been diving 30 times. The dives get better and better every time. The more experienced I become, the more interesting the dives are.Diving in Belize last summer was brilliant. We went to the Blue Hole, which was an underwater cave until the roof fell in. Being surrounded by sharks in the deep blue sea was hair-raising! Watchingnature at work is wonderful. It makes you feel on top of the world.In October we went to Cyprus and dived over the wreck of the Zenobia. Visited by underwater tourists, this wreck provides a very different type of sightseeing. If you haven’t tried scuba diving, I strongly recommend it – as long as you’re a good swimmer and enjoy being in the sea. I think you’ll find it by far the best way to spend your holiday.
