Do Now: HELP ME DECIDE!:) I have written two different beginnings to my personal narrative. Read them and answer the questions.Beginning #1: My AP English class was buzzing with energy. The potential king and queen’s rehearsed smiles were still gleaming and rumors of who would win were the topic of our post-lunch, pre-class conversation. Homecoming was this week and the pep rally was next period. I cared little about our “high school nobility,” but I did overly care about Mark, one of the approved members of the court. The smartest, the funniest, and, of course, the hottest. Whenever he walked into class, that’s where my attention went. Especially today.Beginning #2: “Pssst. Hey, Jennifer.” Mark smoothly leaned over at the beginning of class and gave me two tickets to our homecoming dance. Huh? Wait? What?! Without hesitation, I leaned over the aisle and quickly grabbed them hoping my entire class witnessed this exchange. My cheeks burned a hot, passionate red. I had been waiting for this moment since 7th grade! “Thanks...” I whispered and was then interrupted by Mrs. Query’s nasal voice.“Stop all of your talking kids. It’s AP time!” I think that was the last thing I really heard her say. The fantasies of our date together for the homecoming football game overshadowed any rational thought.1. What narrative techniques do you notice me using in my first one?2. What narrative techniques do you notice me using in my second one?3. Which one do you prefer and why?4. Writers have to make choices; it can be hard to decide. If I choose #1, what is gained and what is lost?5. If I choose #2, what is gained and what is lost? For revision time, I have written TWO new beginning for my personal narrative. Read each and then answer the questions. Make sure to submit this for your Do Now credit today.
