Dave comes home late from school because of his punishment, and must finish his house chores. How does Pa react to his lateness? He wanted to take a gun and shoot Professor Herbert. Dave hoped that Pa would cool off and not go in the morning. Dave thinks that maybe Pa will "cool off" and not go to school in the morning.
