Titlesare usually found on the top of the pageor on the front cover. Some books have subtitles -these give more information about the titles. The beginning of a nonfiction book or article will often have a table of contentswhich tells you what page each chapter or section begins.Nonfiction materials use things called graphic aidswhich are charts, maps, or images. Graphic aids often have captionswhich give more information about that particular graphic aid.A diagramis a simple drawing that show the parts of something or how it works. Mapsare used to show where something is located. A timelineshows the order of when things happened. Many timelines are used for historicalevents.Boldand italicletters are used to highlight a particular word or event.
