Fantastic Caverns

Do you want to see something really cool? Go to Fantastic Caverns! It is an underground cave in the state of Missouri. There are many caverns in North America. But this is the only one with a cave wide enough to drive through. To see the inside of the cave, visitors ride in open cars pulled by a jeep. Down they go. They ooh and ah. The cave is very beautiful! It is filled with shapes that have been formed by water. Minerals in the water have formed rock towers that grow up from the cave floor. Other shapes hang down from the ceiling of the cave. These shapes are strange and wonderful. This cave feels like a magical place. There is no natural light in the cave. Different kinds of cave fish live in the dark water. Bats fly through the dark air. They are very clever. They do not need light. Who do you suppose found this hidden cave? A farmer’s dog!
