Kitchen Equipment Please match the following kitchen tools to their appropriate use. Dry Measuring Cups A kitchen tool used to measure dry ingredients, such as flour or sugar. Measuring Spoons A set of spoons used to measure a smaller amount of either a liquid or dry ingredient. Liquid Measuring Cup Used to measure a liquid ingredients. Must be on a flat surface and read at eye level. Whisk A wire kitchen utensil used for beating a mixture by hand, to incorporate air Food Turner / Spatula A hand held kitchen tool that is used for lifting or flipping foods. Oven Mitt An insulated mitt or glove worn to protect the wears hand from hot objects such as ovens, stoves, and cookware Colander A piece of equipment used to drain a liquid from foods such as pasta Cutting Board A protective surface on which to cut or slice food. These are often made of plastic, or wood. Baking Sheet/ Jelly Roll Pan A metal sheet on which food may be cooked on within an oven. Sauce Pan Used to make a variety of soups and sauces on the stove top. Saute Pan These pans are designed with a flat bottom and rounded sides, ideal for cooking with oils over a high heat. Bread Knife A knife that has a sharp, serrated edge, consistent of saw like notches. Chef's Knife A general purpose kitchen knife. The blade curving upward along its length and ending in a narrow point. Kitchen Shears A kitchen tool, specifically made for food preparation, that is more versatile than a standard pair of cutting scissors. Pastry Blender A tool used to "cut in", a fat (usually butter) into dry ingredients. The Result is a "pea-sized" mixture resembling a crumb topping.
