Complete the summary. Max was pleased when he heard Carlo was married. After the phone conversation with Ruth, Stephany felt worried about her. The next day Carlo phoned to say the flat was free. He told Stephany that he and Ruth had problems with money, and that Ruth got angry when he worked too much. Stephany told Max that Carlo was pleased they were coming, and that they shouldn’t offer to pay for the flat. Ruth couldn’t understand why Stephany wanted their flat. Carlo explained he had made a promise to Stephany before he had met Ruth. Ruth felt jealous of Stephany because she was British and beautiful. Carlo said that he and Stephany were ‘just good friends’ and that Ruth was the only woman he loved. Although Ruth trusted her husband, she still couldn’t trust Stephany. Complete the paragraph. Max was sick in the night and had to stay in bed the next day. This made Stephany a bit angry. She wasn’t a good nurse and didn’t want to look after him. She wanted to have fun on holiday, but so far had only discovered Max’s weakness. At the bar she met Luigi, the waiter, an old friend of Carlo’s.
