1. Much of the land in the West is covered in forests. About 45 percent of California's surface area is covered by forests. 2. Hawaii is made up of eight main islands and many smaller islands. They were formed by volcanoes. 3. Hawaii has sandy beaches, tropical rainforests, mountains, and volcanoes. 4. Alaska is connected by land to Canada, and it is the largest state in the United States. Very little farming takes place due to the cold climate.
