Label animal & plant cells! Master organelle functions with our interactive worksheet.

Part 1 - Cells - Parts of the Cell Review Watch the entire video prior to answering the questions below. Part 2 - Label the diagrams Label each organelle below. Be careful with the spelling. cytoplasm smooth ER nucleus rough ER lysosome golgi apparatus centriole ribosomes cell membrane mitochondria smooth ER vacuole cytoplasm cell membrame chloroplasts golgi apparatus mitochondria rough ER nucleus cell wall Part 3 - Matching Type Match each organelle below with its corresponding function. Mitochondria I am the powerhouse of the cell. I am responsible for generating the cell’s energy. Cell Membrane I keep the cell together and give it its shape. I control what enters and leaves the cell. Cytoplasm I am the jelly-like substance inside the cell. Smooth ER I make lipids, phospholipids and steroids. Compared to my rough friends, I’m smooth because ribosomes don’t like me. Nucleus I am the control centre of the cell. I contain DNA. Ribosomes I am the protein builder. As a construction guy I connect one amino acid at a time to build long protein chains. Centriole My main function is to help with cell division in animal cells. Rough ER I am a network of structures responsible for the synthesis of proteins. They call me rough because I’m surrounded by ribosomes. Golgi Apparatus I am a packaging center within the cell. I combine simple molecules to make complex molecules for packaging in vesicles. I also look like a stack of pancakes! Lysosome I am the waste disposal system of the cell. I am responsible for digestion and I also breakdown any bacteria that enters the cell. Chloroplasts I am oval in shape and am home to a green substance called chlorophyll. I help trap sunlight to make food for my boss. Vacuole I store water and dissolved substances within my walls. I am present in both animal and plant cells, however I’m much large in the latter. Cell Wall I am the tough covering around plant cells. I give them strength and hold them in shape.
