In order for work to be done in terms of science, the direction of the force and the direction of motion must be the same. In the 1st example, the girl is pushing to the right and the box is moving right, those are both in the same direction so it is work. In the second example holding the backpack up means the force is going up and she is moving forward. The direction of the force and the direction of motion are not the same, so this is not considered work. What about the last 2 examples?
