COUNTING FACES AND EDGES OF 3D SHAPES Watch this video for a couple of examples of how to count all the faces and edges of 3D shapes. Don't forget the "hidden" faces you can't see in 3D! This is called a CUBOID (cool name, eh?) or a rectangular prism. Use the picture to help you count up the number of FACES (flat surfaces), EDGES (where two faces meet), and VERTICES (where three or more faces meet). Number of FACES: 6Number of VERTICES: 8Number of EDGES: 12 This is called a RECTANGULAR PYRAMID, because it has a rectangle base and all its other surfaces meet at one point.
