Those with histrionic personality disorder might seem like they are acting a part, they engage in attention-seeking, dramatic, and dangerous risk-taking behavior.People with cluster B personality disorders tend to be self-destructive, and often require hospitalization.People with cluster C personality disorders tend to lack self-esteem, fear abandonment, and have an excessive need to be taken care of.The most common personality disorder is Personality Disorder not otherwise specified or PDNOS because there is so much overlap between personality disorders.People with borderline personality disorder engage in unhealthy behaviors, like rage and self-harm, to get attention. People with antisocial personality disorder lack empathy, or feelings towards other people. Signs of this disorder show up in early childhood. Some children who lack fear may develop this disorder later in life. People with this disorder show lack of activity in theirfrontal lobe, the part of the brain responsible for impulse control. 2. Chris is hesitant to share his thoughts with others because he thinks they will tell Dante. Chris believes Dante is out to get him. Paranoid personality disorder Dylan prefers to stay in his room all day, he only leaves when he has to go grocery shopping. His brother takes him to parties, but Dylan typically wanders off after 5 minutes. Dylan says he doesn't need a girlfriend because he has his video games. Schizoid personality disorder Alex started wearing a kilt because he believes he has a connection to a medieval warrior from Scotland. He is not interested in having a conversation with people that live in the current century. Alex senses that some of the people he meets are the spirits of other medieval warriors. Antisocial Personality Disorder Marcus is the CEO of a company. His goal is always to make the most profits possible. He will often lie to clients and employees in order to get his way. He doesn't have a close relationship with his wife or kids, but this doesn't bother him. Starting at an early age, Ivan began stealing from his family. He was not afraid of getting in trouble, he only cared about getting stuff that he wanted. At age 25 Ivan was arrested for armed robbery. He received the maximum sentence because the judge did not believe that Ivan felt remorse for his actions. Borderline Personality Disorder Maya grew up with a neglectful mother. It was difficult for Maya to get her mother to pay attention to her. Maya learned at an early age that throwing a violent, rage-filled tantrum was the best way to get the attention she needed. Melanie started dating Carl. After a couple of months, she feared Carl was getting bored with her. Melanie impulsively bought a bus ticket and told Carl she was running away. This action had the desired effect and Carl stayed with her. Melanie continues to have emotional outbursts when she thinks Carl might leave her. Histrionic Personality Disorder Kira frequently stands up during theater class and delivers lines from Shakespeare to prove a point. The teacher often asks her to explain the lines she quotes to defend her stance. Kira uses big words and dramatic gestures to deflect from the fact that she does not know much about the Shakespearean lines she uses in class. Her peers and teachers are fed up with these outbursts because they think that this is Kira's way to get attention and deal with boredom. Misha is late to every class because she is in the bathroom making sure her make up looks perfect when she enters class. She also enjoys the fact that everyone looks at her when she walks in late. Misha adopts a new look and personality every other week, depending on who she is friends with at the time. Misha loves the attention she gets every time she walks into class with a new look. Narcissistic Personality Disorder Luka believed that he was destined to be a famous model. He thought he was smarter and more beautiful than the popular models at the time. Luka filmed himself doing outlandish, crazy things in order to get attention. When other people said someone else was responsible for the crazy videos, Luka became enraged and extremely envious. Luka could not understand why he wasn't getting the attention he thought he deserved. Mike believes that he is a computer genius. However, Mike barely graduated from school and was fired from every computer-based job he had. Every time Mike got fired, he blamed his co-workers and bosses for not being able to understand his intelligence. 5. Diagnose the Cluster C Disorders Jenny believes that if she throws out something her mom gives her, then her mom will die. She saves everything her mom gives her, even if it is just a napkin. Jenny is not willing to change her way of thinking because she doesn't want to put her mom's life at risk. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Sammy clings to her three best friends. She is constantly afraid that she will do something to upset them, and lose their friendship. Sammy never voices her opinions, choosing to echo the opinions of her friends instead. Sammy asks for their opinions every time she makes a decision, no matter how big or small. Dependent Disorder Natalie has worked in the same office for 5 years, but has never eaten lunch with any of her co-workers. Her co-workers know her name and that is about it. Natalie does not socialize with her co-workers because she doesn't think she is particularly smart, funny, or, interesting. Natalie would rather be ignored by her co-workers than ridiculed.
