Flexibility Self Assessment Read each statement. Score yourself: 0 = Never, 1 = Sometimes, 2 = Always Statement Rating: 0, 1, or 2 I am calm when situations don't go as planned. I am able to problem solve on the spot (on my own). I am calm when the schedule changes. Moving from one activity to another is easy for me. I think I can handle it when a teacher gives me a big project or a lot of homework all at one time. Being Flexible means you can change your plans easily or "go with the flow" if something unexpected happens. Sometimes that means figuring out how to problem solve quickly and on your own. Flexibility is important because sometimes you cannot control things and they do not go as planned. Here are some ways to be flexible:-- Rearrange your schedule to meet with the school counselor on a different day-- Accept that the day's schedule changed because of an event-- Be willing to change plans when the teacher changed your seat in class-- Go with the flow when you're not sure which group you will end up with for the project Flexibility- Problem Solving #1 Situation: Your favorite outfit never made it into the washer and dryer and it is picture day today! You were set on wearing this specific outfit. You arevery upset. Question Your Response What is the problem? How big is the problem? Will it matter in 5 years? What are possible solutions? What might happen as a consequence of those solutions? What can you say to yourself (self-talk) in this situation?

Make it yours
