The chlorophyll (葉綠素) in the leaves uses sunlight as energy and produces food using water and carbon dioxide (二氧化碳). During the process, Oxygen (氧氣) is released and sugar is produced and stored in the form of carbohydrates (碳水化合物) for plant growth. They pass on their characteristics to their offspring when they reproduce.
