Conservative Foreign Policy/Statist Intro & Statist Economics
Conservative Foreign Policy Our backing of Israel causes them to have no incentive to make a deal with the Palestinians Our foreign commitments towards NATO are unconstitutional NATO will get the U.S. involved in conflicts that are none of the U.S.'s concern The War on Terror has eroded our 4th, 5th, and 6th amendment liberties. This is bad. Preventative war will erode the fabric of our Constitutional Liberties. This is bad. Why are we worried about Ukraine's border but not our own. The 2001 War on Terror AUMF grant to much power to the President. This allows the President to turn the whole world into a battlefield The Iraq War cost 4,431 U.S. soldiers lives in an unecessary war. Collecting Americans METADATA after 9 was an Unconstitutional breach of Executive Power. The Executive SHOULD NOT be able to label any suspected terrorist as an enemy combatant as that could get abused in the future. We give Israel $3 billion in hand-outs. This creates bad incentives. They can take care of themselves. The War on Terror cost the American taxpayer $8 trillion. This could have been avoided if we would have used Marque Reprisal. Enhanced Interrogation Techniques were a violation of the 8th Amendment and those involved with that should go to prison. Non-Conservative Foreign Policy Foreign Aid is important to maintain our network of allies and support throughout the world Our support of Israel is important because they will help spread U.S. interests in the Middle East. Our support of NATO is important in order to deter Russian aggression in Eastern Europe The Iraq war was important in order to remove an anti-American and Israeli leader from the Middle East. Some liberties must be sacrificed in order to us to be safe from Terrorism. The U.S. should work to bring the country of the Ukraine into NATO The government debt isn't a big deal as the dollar is still the most desired currency in the world today. We should work through the United Nations to solve the problem of Terrorism We need to continue to fund the Ukraine or else Russia will take the Ukraine over and then take over more countries. The Iraq War AUMF was important to give the flexibility to our Executive to stop threats coming our of Iraq (Al-Qaeda, ISIS, radical Shia Groups) The 2001 War on Terror AUMF is important in order to grant the President the power to stop terrorist threats before they materialize Collecting Americans METADATA shouldn't be of concern if we aren't doing anything bad. The Executive SHOULD be able to label suspected terrorists as enemy combatants as we are at war against a constant threat to our safety. I should only be able to search a students bag if there is a student that sees something illegal in the bag. (probable cause) I should only be able to search a students bag if I have a good assumption (suspicion) that there is something illegal in the bag. I should only be able to search a students bag if it is done on a random basis. Once a week 50 student names are drawn and those bags will be searched. Which do ideology do Statist's favor? Individual Rights are the most important The Community Values are most important The Groups Power is the most important The Nation's interest is the most important What is an example of how individual interests must be sacrificed for the good of the nation in regards to Statist Economics? Nazis Amish Communists and Anarchists Socialists and Amish Nazis and Communists Which of the following acts is preventative? Invading Iraq in 2003 because we feared that Saddam had WMD and would use them on us, our allies, or give them to terrorists. Pulling over a driver while they are swerving abruptly on the road. Declaring War on Japan after Pearl Harbor (1941) Arresting Ramzi Yousef in Pakistan. Ramzi was the main organizer of the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing that killed 16 people. STATIST ECONOMICS The National Government should invest in STEM education in order to keep high tech jobs in America We don't want to be dependent on Foreigners for our food supply because they could cut us off. The U.S. should produce more computer chips in our country or else we risk becoming held hostage by foreign nations for this vital product. Farm subsidies are important for our national security. The CHIPS ACT of 2022 is important for our National Security We should raise tariffs on Chinese goods this way more will be made in the United States. The high costs for health insurance has made our businesses less competitive internationally Our large Trade Deficit has hollowed out our manufacturing and left us being depending on foreigner (China) for our manufactured goods. This is bad. We should raise our minimum wage in order to improve worker productivity and economic output to keep pace with China America's educational abilities have declined and this puts our economic strength in question because many businesses will try to re-locate to countries where the labor is better educated with the skills that are needed. Raising the Minimum Wage causes weaker inefficient businesses to close down and more efficient businesses to focus on technological investment to offset higher labor costs. This is good. Higher prices for foreign goods is a sacrifice we should make because in the long run it is important to have more of our economy manufacturing again. NON-STATIST ECONOMICS National Government in Education is Unconstitutional The government's involvement in education has created inefficiencies and poor quality and it should cease. Cheap Chinese imports allows the U.S. to specialize in other more productive areas of the economy. This is good. Farm Subsidies create dependency on the government and a lower incentive to produce better, or a diversity of crops. Tariffs drive up prices for consumers and hostility between nations and should be eliminated. Parents should be the primary role in deciding how to use the tax dollars that are given for education. Not the National Government. Having the U.S. produce most of our goods is a bad thing as it drives up prices and diverts resources from more productive uses to less productive uses. Single Payer health care is bad because it creates shortages since the government doesn't know where there are surpluses, or shortages due to lacking a pricing structure. We need Single Payer health care to help the less fortunate. Health Costs are the #2 cause of Bankruptcy in the U.S. If we stop acting like the World's Policeman then maybe there would be less incentive for the Chinese to target us. Do we really want to go to war over Taiwan? The Minimum Wage will hurt smaller businesses and stifle economic growth since most new job growth comes from small businesses. A large Trade deficit doesn't matter. Trade helps both parties. We don't care about trade deficits between Kansas and Nebraska?
