Because there was little traffic late in the evening, the bus was able to make rapid progress to the hotel. If I get there soon, maybe I'll have time to eat a snack in the restaurant," he told himself. "Maybe I'll have a ham sandwich or some pasta salad." When George was checking in at the hotel, a tall stranger spoke to him. "Skiing the North Slope tomorrow?" the stranger asked. George was flattered to be taken for an experienced skier. The North Slope was hard. He forgot all about finding a snack. Allow me to introduce myself," the stranger said. "MY name is Yul B. Sawrey. Here's my card." "Oh, you sell ski equipment," said George. "That's right. Maybe you've seen my skis advertised on TV while you were watching your favorite program," Sawrey said. "My skis are the only ones on the planet that won't break. They are crash-proof." "That's amazing!" said George. "They sound too good to be true." "Yes, they do," said Sawrey slyly. "Every pair of my skis is made in my own factory from a light new plastic. Together they act like a reverse magnet. They push you away from anything into which you might crash. I call them my magic skis," Sawrey said. "I'll buy a pair!" George shouted. "I can certainly use magic skis." That night George decided he didn't need skiing lessons. He didn't even finish reading the first chapter in his book, How to ski. The next morning George headed to the ski slopes and began skiing down the North Slope as fast as a rabbit. CRASH! He hit a rock. Each of his brand-new skis broke in half with a loud crack. The nest thing he knew, he was in the hospital, wearing a cast from his calf to his hip. George's aunt came to see him in the hospital. She felt sorry for George. "I made a big mistake, Aunt Ida," George told her. "I should have known better than to buy a pair of skis from a man named Yul B. Sawrey." His aunt answered, "Well, now we can tell you G. I. Shore Was!" Their laughter could be heard down the hall. Hi, Andy, This weekend I went skiing with my dad. I was coming down a hill at a rapid speed when a calf ran out in front of me. I managed to avoid hitting it, but I tripped and landed with a crash. Nothing was hurt but the egg salad sandwich I had brought along as a snack. It was squashed flat in its plastic wrapper. I burst into laughter at the sight! What did you do this weekend? Lets talk later!Bailey Alphabetical Order Words are listed in alphabetical order in a dictionary.
