However, my main job is to act like a highway system for the cell. Compared to my rough friends, I’m smooth because ribosomes don’t like me. H Cell Membrane B. I am the protein builder. My job is extremely important, as proteins are needed for many functions within the cell and the whole organism. As a construction guy I connect one amino acid at a time to build long protein chains. N Cytoplasm C. I am a network of structures responsible for the delivering proteins and other substances to the Golgi Apparatus. They call me rough because I’m surrounded by ribosomes. A Smooth ER D. I am the powerhouse of the cell. I am responsible for generating the cell’s energy. M Nucleus E. I am a packaging centre within the cell. I combine simple molecules to make complex molecules for packaging in vesicles. Sometimes these vesicles are transported out of the cell. I also look like a stack of pancakes! B Ribosomes F. I am the waste disposal system of the cell. I am responsible for the digestion and removal of macromolecules the cell no longer needs. I also breakdown the bacteria that enters the cell. I am the destroyer! K Centriole G. I am oval in shape and am home to a green substance called chlorophyll. I help trap sunlight to make food for my boss. While I am exclusive to plants, you will not find me in all plant cells. C Rough ER H. I keep the cell together and give it its shape. Some substances, such as water and oxygen, can pass through me but other substances cannot. I control what enters and leaves the cell. E Golgi Body I. I store water and dissolved substances within my walls. I am present in both animal and plant cells, however I’m much larger in the plant cell. F Lysosome J. I am the tough covering around plant cells. I give them strength and hold them in shape. I am made of a substance called cellulose. Water and dissolved substances can pass through me. You will not find me in an Animal cell. G Chloroplasts K. My main function is to help with cell division in animal cells. I help the formation of the spindle fibers that separate the chromosomes during cell division I Vacuole L. I'm located in the nucleus, and I make Ribosomes. After I make the ribosomes, the ribosomes leave the nucleus and travel to the cytoplasm. J Cell Wall M. I am the control centre of the cell. I contain DNA in the form of chromosomes and control what the cell does and when. L Nucleolus N. I am the jelly-like substance inside the cell. I contain many important substances that are needed for chemical reactions. I also have cytoskeleton within me. Pant cell Vs.
