Fill in the blank spaces with the correct form of the verbs. (past simple progressive) Avi and the LionI met Avi in the street yesterday and he told (tell) me a story that was hard to believe. The trouble is that Avi is always telling me about strange things that happen to him. I never know whether to believe him or not. This time he swore (swear) that what he was relating (relate) was the truth.He was walking (walk) in the park on his way home from school, when he saw (see) a lion! At first he didn't believe (not his own eyes, but then he realized that it was a real lion. Nobody else was (be) in the park and so he couldn't call for help. As soon as the lion saw (see) him, Avi quickly climbed (climb) the nearest tree. While he was waiting (wait) up there, the lion kept trying to reach up to him but it couldn't. After a while, the lion seemed to forget about him, but when Avi started (start) to call for help, the lion heard(hear) him again trying to reach Avi. To make matters worse, it was getting (get) darker and darker. Avi was (be) afraid. He didn't want to spend the night up a tree with a lion walking around below him. After about two hours, he heard (hear) sirens and cars outside the park. The lion heard the noises too and started walking towards the sounds. Avi didn't know this, because by this time it was completely dark. Avi waited (wait) in the tree all night, not daring to come down till the morning, when he realized (realize) that the lion was no longer waiting (wait). Then he ran (run) out of the park as quickly as he could (can).
