Master energy transformations! Learn the law of conservation of energy with fun examples.

Use the following information to answer the following questions: The law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed. There are many types of energy including mechanical (kinetic), radiant (light), thermal (heat), electrical, chemical, nuclear, and sound. When energy flows from one type to another this is called an energy transformation. 1. Match up the following objects with their transformations. Electric Lamp Electrical -> Radiant -> Thermal Hair Dryer Electrical ->Sound Electrical -> Thermal Television Electrical -> Light Electrical -> Sound Battery-Powered Flashlight Chemical->Electrical->Radiant Ceiling Fan Electrical->Mechanical When doing an energy transformation, follow the following process. 1. What does it need to work?2. What does it do when it's working?3. Does it produce something when it's working? 2. Using the types of energy in your binder, write out the transformation for each of the following examples and EXPLAIN. Do it in the same format as the example below.Example: A flashlight would be chemical -> electrical -> radiantbecause the battery has chemical energy stored inside which then completes an electrical circuit for electrical energy which then transforms into light.A) Electric Car:B) Battery-powered radio:C) Hair Straighter:You have to write in the box below. You can copy the objects though if you would like. Don't forget your arrows. WAIT! Did you explain A, B, and C? Otherwise, I'll be giving it back to you! 3. What does the Law of Conservation of Energy say? (The answer is found on this page and in your notes.) 4. Provide an example of an item found at your house (can not be an example already used on this page) and describe the energy transformations that it undergoes.
